Yokhuselo Haven is a shelter dedicated to women and children that are affected by domestic violence. The name Yokhuselo is a Xhosa word meaning “safe place”. Yokhuselo Haven offers a safe haven to those in crisis, assisting with rehabilitation through counselling and empowerment.
As part of the Varsity Cup, “Keep the Aggro on the field” – campaign, the NMMU Madibaz has identified Yokhuselo Haven as their charity to support. Every year during Varsity Cup the Madibaz players lends a helping hand to Yokhuselo Haven.
In 2015 the Madibaz players had the task of cleaning up the garden at the shelter.
